The latest escalation in the long-simmering rap beef between the two rap superstars comes in the form of “6:16 in LA,” which Lamar shared on Instagram on Wednesday morning. The track’s title is likely a reference to Drake’s tradition of dropping “timestamped songs” that include a specific time and location.
Produced by Soundwave and noted Taylor Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff, the track contains several references to Drake, including the insinuation that the Toronto rapper has a mole in his camp.

“Have you ever thought that OVO was workin’ for me? / Fake bully, I hate bullies, you must be a terrible person,” Lamar raps over a chopped up Al Green sample. “Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it.”
The song also includes references to Drake’s 2020 track “Toosie Slide,” and his 2023 LP “For All The Dogs”: “Can’t ‘Toosie Slide’ up out of this one, it’s just gon’ resurface / Every Dog gotta have his day, now live in your purpose.”
Near the end of the track, Lamar seems to take a shot at Drake’s tendency to respond to his bars via social media. following the release of “Euphoria,” Drake posted a clip from the 1999 rom-com “10 Things I Hate About You,” a reference to Lamar listing the various thing he hated about his nemesis.
“But your reality can’t hide behind Wi-Fi / Your lil’ memes is losing steam, they figured you out,” Lamar raps.
Clearly, the pressure is on for Drake to respond. On Thursday, social media was filled with rumours that he had a track that was ready to release at midnight, but that hasn’t happened yet.
